More thoughts on the Gallery art

I've had a few people so far express an interest in owning some prints of the artwork on display in the Gallery.  I've done really nice photographic enlargements of some of those very scenes for my classroom using an on-line company.  The prices were reasonable and the quality of the work was excellent.  I was impressed with how true the color was to my original, and how bright the printed posters were.  I'd be honored to share these.  The limit on how large a poster can be printed depends on the size of my original art file.  Some sizes would look fuzzy or pixelated.  And of course, the company charges more for the larger sizes.  The printer could even ship directly to you in a nice, sturdy mailing tube.

So, again, if there are views who want to explore this option, please let me know by comment, or email me directly at jcoxwell@lauderdale.k12.ms.us.  I could then get back to you with a size/cost quote.

The editor is considering using a variation of the piece called "Nebula View" as cover art for The Epsilon Wish.  I'm going to have some enlargements of the cover art printed myself to place at book signings, etc.

New captions for Sirius Spacescapes Gallery

I spent a while this evening writing and editing titles and captions for the space paintings in the gallery.  Several people had viewed and commented on them, but there was no o to distinguish one from the other.

I'm also toying with the idea of finding a way to make poster-size reprints of those paintings available for sale.  If anyone is interested in pursuing that, please let me know.  I might be able to set up some sort of ordering system through this website for the artwork as the book becomes available.

The Epsilon Wish is now with the publisher

Randy Young of Sleepytown Press has received the completely edited and updated manuscript.  The Epsilon Wish is now in the capable hands of the publisher.  :-)  The text will be formatted to fit the printing specifications, and a cover will be designed.  I submitted several of my pieces of space art which do a good job of illustrating some scenes from the novel  that Randy may be able to use as part of the overall cover design.  I can't wait to see it.

Once the formatting and design is complete, he'll send me "proofs" via email.  I give everything a final checkand  sign off on the approval.  Then the completed book will be ready to send to Lightning Source for printing.

I'll keep my would-be readers informed at each step along the way with this Blog.  We are still tentatively expecting a release sometime during mid-Summer.  I have a class reunion coming in Jackson, AL in early June, so I hope I can at least share this web address with old friends and classmates

Welcome to my new Blog!

Thanks for visiting my  website.  I've just added this Blog in order to keep everyone up-to-date on the progress of The Epsilon Wish as it works its way toward publication sometime this summer.  I have a green light from the publisher at Sleepytown Press to submit the manuscript, and right now I'm in one final run-through, looking again for typos and grammar-no-nos, trying to make the document as "clean" as I can before handing it off to the editor.

Once the book is actually at Sleepytown Press, I'll post regular updates.  When the editor begins the initial layout and formatting, I'll have a much better idea as to the final number of printed pages the book will contain, its suggested cover price, and the availability dates.  I'll be able to purchase author copies to sell locally, plus the book will be available through the publisher's website.  Amazon.com and other on-line book sellers like Barnes and Nobles also offer work produced by Sleepytown.

Once we're actually in print and I have copies in-hand, I'd love to organize some local book signings so that friends, students, and former students can obtain a copy in person.  I'd especially enjoy the opportunity to see folks again and maintain contact with everyone.
